I highly recommend that you don't.

Really. Don't.

Pan is billed as an "alternate origin story" for Peter Pan (Levi Miller). That, is certainly is, given that it is set during World War 2 and the original story was early Edwardian.

The main story is that Peter has been left at an orphanage in London as a newborn, and as a child during the war he tries to get revenge with his friends on the orphanage's matron (Kathy Bates), who abuses them. She summons Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) and his flying ship to remove the children, taking them to Neverland. Here, they mine crystallised Fairy Dust for Blackbeard.

They go on to meet Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara), the Natives and the other characters from the original story. They defeat Blackbeard, Peter discovers his true family history and Hook (Garrett Hedlund) becomes Captain.

Visually, it is quite impressive

The film is not good. You are taken out of the moments with modern , popular songs, and Hugh Jackman's Blackbeard just doesn't look right. I am aware that this is intentional, with the whole anti-aging thing, but it was another aspect that took me out of the film.

Visually, the film does make an impact, but that is about it. The acting is poor, the script and plot make little sense. It had potential, but failed to fulfill that big time.

I don't rate it at all, and its reception at the box office shows that. $150 million budget, $129 million at the box office. You'll see why if you dare watch it. I have very little to say about it, hence such a short blog. The director, Joe Wright, even stated he considered retiring after it failed.

Pan panned. Simple as.
