Clarke, an interstellar comet, is about to hit Earth. An extinction level event is expected, but Gerard Butler is there, and he is not going to let his family die.
So, what can they do? There is safety in Greenland. John Garrity (Butler) races to get his family there.
What we have to remember is that this is an apocalypse film in which man cannot die. Yup. Remember that meteor that killed of the dinosaurs? That killed of 65-75% of life on the planet. In Greenland, they predict even bigger. So, what does that mean? Our heroes can outrun nature just enough to make it to safety! And mankind is mildly prepared, of course.

And then there is Greenland 2: Migration. 5 years have passed since Clarke hit the planet and Greenland is no longer safe. Panic strikes and Garrity manages to escape with his family off Greenland. They have heard rumour that the original impact crater might actually be a haven for humanity. They manage to reach England (a flooded Liverpool) and head off to London, fighting their way to a friend. From there, to the dried up English Channel and through France.

Now, we don't know for sure exactly how long after the impact of the meteor that killed the dinosaurs it took for the Earth to start recovering, or how much of the world was devastated how, but 5 years was not long enough, certainly not for lush green land to grow there without some weird extra-terrestrial influence!

So while, on the face of it, the two Greenland films are classic end-of-the-world films, so there is no surprise to each ending. However, they are just too cheesily written. They are predictable, easy watches.
I will grant this to Greenland 2 - the screen crossing the fissure in the former English Channel gave me vertigo. I do not like heights, and while I knew it was CGI, I was still REALLY uncomfortable!
